Desiring Daylight

Tune: Merton

('Hark, a thrilling voice is sounding')

Romans 13 v.11-14

***********

Know now it is time to awake

Out of sleep, for the Lord's sake

For now is our full salvation

Nearer for us, e'en each one

Nearer than we first did believe

The gospel truth did receive

Night is far spent, day is at hand

Christ, morning-star of eh land

Let us cast off works of darkness

Wear armour of light, no less

Live properly, as in daytime

Christ be out Light in life's rhyme

Noe revelling or licentious*

Nor lewdness, things not for us

Not striving, and not envying

Nor rioting, chambering*

But the Lord Jesus Chrsit put on

As a garment, God's own Son

Living in his life and power

Not human greed any hour

-------

* the two words here are similar -

licentious and chambering.
