Wisdom of old (1)

Doggerel Dave

Notice of absence from Doggerel Dave
Not absent - still here!
Keep Calm and Carry On Poeming. 😂

Happily retired – this is why:

My senior had a grand plan.

He’d thought this through in great detail;

To effect it I was the man.

I made the effort to explain

Difficulties he could not see:

I don’t think a way could be found -

But this was my deficiency.

Yet here, as part of our culture,

Old advice which is very sound -

Wisdom well known: ‘Easier said than done’

Now = to no more foolish plans am I bound.

    We can live on little.
    Being content is more difficult.

    • Doggerel Dave

I don't want to boast, but I've never been more content......

        That makes me happy.

I was gonna be wise. As Goldfinch and I are millions of years old, I thought we would be OK, until I read 'Wisdom is not always found with the aged'. Doh!

While I wholeheartedly agree with your recently discovered aphorism, orchi, I would be prepared to give you the benefit of the doubt just this once.................

          Well said and complete…
Retirement=no more foolish plans I am bound
          One should be so lucky

Can I assume that you have yet to retire, that you still have youth on your side? No hurry - but retirement can be very liberating.
Good luck to you wherever on life's path you happen to be.

Being retired can bring such wonderful things to our lives Dave.

I didn’t think anyone retired anymore. I did but keep working so what does that mean? Loved the poem made me smile.

Don't take much to make you smile, do it? 🙂

we all have a certain sapiential responsibility to look out for those who have not yet reached a certain point in their life .. but I am sure that not everyone will see it my way .. Neville
