Inspirations

Accidental Poet

Got to thinking today of

My inspirations in life

People, places and things

Morning, noon and night

Men like Hays and Yastrzemski

Armstrong, Kennedy and Lightfoot

Men who took the world by storm

Gone down in history with high note

Women like Earhart

Guthrie, Whitford and Ride

Brave, competitive and monumental

Be it in race cars, classrooms or planes sky high

Places like Scituate, Massachusetts

Minot Lighthouse and Lawson Tower

Spaces deep inside of me

Colorful as radiant flowers

Of Mothers and Fathers

Adoptive and birth

All I’ve learned from them

My personal worth

Animals of character

Whales, Blue Jays, Dogs and Cats

What they teach us humans

What I wouldn’t give just to chat

Memories of days gone by

Lost in rear-view mirrors

Childhood haunts

 Heart’s flowing rivers

Thankful for my life

To be among the living

To pay it forward

The power of giving

First love

Treasured thoughts of her

Her mid-western drawl

Emotions in my heart she stirs

All these inspirations

 And so much more

Define who I am

Down to my very core
