childhood dreams

seventeen

i see the river

and the blue barns

in my childhood dreams,

in my childhood dreams

i see the summer,

pink dresses, and pools

in my childhood dreams,

in my childhood dreams

the family i never had,

i see them smiling

in my childhood dreams,

in my childhood dreams

the ribbons in my hair untie

and peacefully go with the wind,

a new pair of jeans

in my childhood dreams

as i look at the sky,

there’s my life passing by,

some hidden treasures in

the woods keep me awake,

fairies flying over my head in the cradle,

the reminiscence one can never take.

this is a place with no time,

it’s a distorted space —

i even see my blushy face,

so soon and all of a sudden

replaced by something else.

i was leaving fingerprints

against the water, and dragonflies,

green grass, mosquitos knew

that by the morning i won’t be able to hide the traces of sweet dew.

i was so scattered,

but somehow lived.

all covered up in fantasies,

painted in someone else’s love,

invincible like sunbeam or origami.

illuminated from my head to toes,

fresh air dripping in my lungs like honey.

slicing the piece of heaven

and drinking my tea with it.

in my childhood dreams

in my childhood dreams
