What Happened To Pop.

Goldfinch60

A song comes on the radio,

It could be from the fifties, sixties or seventies

And I start singing the words,

The words of each song

That I know so well,

And know the lyrics.

So unlike modern music,

Modern so called pop music.

Can any of them sing!

Can any of them pronounce words!

I may just be that old

That I do not understand

This modern way.

I can understand modern classical music,

And listen to it so often,

But this modern pop culture is not for me.

I listen to modern jazz

And am taken into a different world,

One that I can understand.

So at least I have so much to listen to

And do not need to be drowned out,

Drowned out by the modern pop world.

Ahh, that video reminded me - it's probably the last time I tuned in to pop, and 'proper songs!' lol.
What was pop like millions of years ago for us two?

I agree wholeheartedly, as ashamed as I am, a 27 year old man in today's times; Most music featured on the radio today - at least the "Popular" ones, are quite bad. Like the mix stations, or even the rock stations most days. It's horrendous. Often I find I have to dig to find good music. Do you like Billy Joel, Andy?

It's good to know that at your age you also do not like modern pop. I am attaching an album from 1967 by group called The Moody Blues to see if you like this.

Billy Joel is OK but I wouldn't chose to listen to him.

Thank you very much for the recommendation! I'm hooked on "Nights In White Satin." It's got such a melancholic tone yet such power in it. Another lengthy addition to my "Chill Music" youtube playlist. Thanks again!

Get me with those green eyes, baby, as the lights go down; give me something that'll haunt me when your not around.

      • Jerry Reynolds

        It is getting harder.

        • Goldfinch60

          It surely is Jerry.

          Fantastic work, brings back memories.

Thank you Thomas, those memories are important in our lives.

I think that there are too many confusing genres these days and these old ears are not able to distinguish between this and that .. might I respectfully suggest you give both Wolf Alice & Mazzy Star a listen .. they wont change your opinion in general but I think you might like them .. Neville

            • Goldfinch60

I'll give them a go Neville.

              Andy
