To Eternity And Beyond.

Goldfinch60

Four years ago today was the day,

The day my wife and loved one passed.

Nearly forty years together,

Our love so strong and joyful,

Never a row in all those years,

We had a wonderful time.

Now she is looking down on me

Her love showing her acceptance,

Her acceptance of my new love.

I know we will all be together,

Be together in time

And move forward in our lives

To eternity and beyond.

  • Comment from author about the poem: My wife of nearly forty years died this day, 30th December 2019. She died from dementia and if anybody thinks they know about dementia hasn't lived 24/7 for several years with someone who has got it they haven't a f*****g clue!!! Johnny Mathis was her favourite singer.

My adoptive father and mother passed from Alzheimer's and now I believe my sister has it or Dementia. Its like ripping your heart out to watch your family go through this disease. But your love for each other is ever present. 🫂

It is a dreadful problem AP, I first noticed something was wrong in 2012 and I lived with it for seven years and it got worse every day until she had to go into a care home as I just could not deal with it any more.

That's why I donate to the Alzheimer's Association every year. Hopefully they can make some real progress in eliminating this awful disease.
