A Path of Least Resistance

Accidental Poet

Seems the day has come

We heard talk of years ago

That if we didn’t change our ways

Like the dinosaur we would go

Countries that don’t want peace

World hatred is their goal

Pain and suffering

For each and every soul

They don’t discriminate

Don’t care who you are

Because in their eyes

We’re all the evil star

One wants to annihilate the another

Threatening with nuclear death

Forsaking all the world

Who cares about the rest

It’s the same old story

Come down from ages past

Egotistic minds nothing better to do

Push the button, make today our last

If this was the plan

Then what’s the point of all of us?

There’s a better way for everyone

Why all the fuss?

We need to think as one planet

With world love and peace

A unified species to exist

For all wars to cease

For Earth to be a peaceful world

Giving helping hands an insistence

A new path of empathy

  A path of least resistance

Well your second stanza speaks volume to me, and yes wouldn't it be nice my dear A.P love our home and appreciate everything on and in it. This is fab poetry because it's a wish that probably is just that. ๐Ÿค— Fabulous reflection.

Thank you Teddy for the review. I'm beginning to fear the end of the world is at our door. Between Russia, North Korea, Iran and my own buffoon in the White House, all I can do is shake me head in disbelief. Personally, I do believe in God. And I pray he's gearing up to intervene for the sake of the innocent of planet Earth.

The good old day of dinos ...

      • Accidental Poet

Thanks Lorenz, at least dinosaurs had survival as an excuse. North Korea, Russia and Iran just want to flex their muscles and strut around as bullies. And President Biden is just a puppet to congress. ๐Ÿ™„

You share the fears of many who look at the state our planet is in. Some of our species are filled with hatred and are only interested in obliterating anyone who doesnโ€™t share their vile views. Is it really too much to ask for, to live in peace? Your words are a powerful reminder, that there are many who want quiet lives. Thank you and for more Bobby too.

I just don't understand the thought process of countries like Russia, North Korea and Iran, where all they want is to push the button for WW3. It just doesn't make sense. If they push the button, automatically we'll have to push the button, and there will be nuclear holocaust all over the world. Any asteroids or super volcanoes heading our way will be too late. We did it ourselves. ๐Ÿ™„

And yes to more Bobby Darin. An amazing talent gone too soon.

I have lived long enough to remember when we had true leaders, not necessarily politicians, but people who saw a wrong and had the courage to speak out and effect change, and to our wonderment they did. We've lost something precious over the generations, the willingness of every day people to see through the lies and manipulation, and to stand up to those who lead us astray. It takes courage and determination, and we're not listening to those who are screeming at the top of their lungs that we , the people, must act. Perhaps we will crash and burn, only to have something better rise from the ashes. One can only hope for the best, but always be prepared to recover from the worst. A very powerful write my friend.

Thanks Bella for reading and your compliment/comments. You just summed up my poem in a few short lines. I especially like the line, "We've lost something precious over the generations, the willingness of every day people to see through the lies and manipulation, and to stand up to those who lead us astray." For instance, Donald Trump. I don't understand how people can fall for his BS and support him. If there is such a thing, he's the Anti-Christ I've heard about. But not just him. How can people follow and support Putin, and that other nut job in North Korea? Saddam Hussien is looking like an Angel next to these guys. Sorry, don't mean to go on a rampage on all of this. It just makes me sick that humans can do this to each other.

                • Bella Shepard

Your rampage is justifiable. It's funny you should use the term Anti-Christ in reference to Trump, for I have often the thought the same and wondered how the so called fundamentelist Christians can support him. Apparently they don't know what an Anti-Christ is. Keep writing my friend, it's good to know that your voice of reason is there.

Well writ AP. Couldn't agree more.....but I fear it may be too late. Just thankful I won't be here to see its conclusion (unless reincarnation IS the go , and.....).

Wonderfully true words AP and that last verse says it all.

Someone with more knowledge once told me that nukes take out all communications, GPS and the like.
As everything is controlled through the internet I doubt the west would push this button.

                    • Accidental Poet

Well, we may soon find out 2781. I just don't know what to think anymore.

                      • 2781

Ourselves is the only thing we can change.
                        The rest fall's into place.
