A Remembrance Promise

Tom C Dylan

I promise not to remember

the diagnosis, the doctors.

I will remember summer barbecues

and caravan weekends.

I promise not to remember

the agony, and getting affairs in order.

I will remember Boxing Day parties

wine and signing ABBA.

I promise not to remember

the oxygen, morphine and tubes.

I will remember the tapas and the fine dining,

and one more round of drinks.

I will remember.

I promise.
