My Little Rhyming Book

Accidental Poet

I must confess

When in my writing den

More times than not

I rely on my little friend

My Muse and I

Hard at work

Searching for rhymes

Then finally, to my last resort

My little rhyming book

Comes out to save the day

I start flipping the pages

And there, a rhyme to say

You either use it or don’t

Rhyming is not for everyone

But if your Muse calls for it

It will be done

It’s served me well

When my brain in a fog

Trying to think of a rhyme

My mind like the city smog

Is it cheating?

Well, I don’t know

Define cheating

Maybe ask Edgar Allen Poe

Oh well, no loss

Don’t think the poem will care

Let’s see where it lands

If I toss it up in the air

Well, that isn’t so bad

For the extra minute it took

Easily worth the effort

My little rhyming book

    Nope, not cheating.
Sometimes it helps in shuffling words around in sentences, but aiming not to be too cryptic, e.g. 'Shops going to I was'. But what rhymes with 'was'? Doh!

Well, nice going Orchi. You picked the one word not listed in my little rhyming book. I hope you're happy now. 😆

I may have other words. lol. What rhymes with 'shop'? Hop!

Anyone can rhyme my dear friend, but not everyone can rhyme naturally. When it's forced it's cheating and hard on the ear and eye. So my dear A.P I've always absolutely loved your rhymes that slip off the tongue beautifully. 😉 ðŸĪ— I asked my family for a book of rhyme for Christmas but as you can imagine they didn't even consider it. LoL

Thanks for the read Teddy. You should be able to find the book I pictured here online. I believe there's even more rhyming books available. As far as cheating goes, my little rhyming book says its ok. So I went with it. ðŸĪŠ

To rhyme or not to rhyme, that is the question.
I generally do not rhyme but do occasionally, it is entirely up to individuals if they and how they want to do it AP, the words that we write are ours anyway.

Just so you didn't let some AI bot write this I'm OK with it... does the little book discuss assonance and similar but not actual rhymes? (Asking for a friend.) Seriously, hip hop for example uses lots of near-rhyme like "shower/louder" and "savage/damage" or "doing/improving." These can be sensationally unique.

Good point jarcher, thanks for reading. ðŸĪ”
