Written on "Blue Monday"

AuburnScribbler

A cage clangs, with a scream,

not totally, self-built,

as others, co-author scene,

to stir a mutual guilt,

stiff upper lips,

shield is armed,

it’s hard to grip,

to be so calm,

forming life,

that is to die,

for war is rife,

no reasons why.

Floorboards creak, under step,

a nervous one they are,

in mind, they’re out of depth,

don’t let them near your car,

for tarmac, red,

lack of thinking,

frequent dread,

means no more blinking,

culture’s plan,

to up the cost,

let every man,

make up compost.

But, a bird does tweet, in the tree,

fed by them, with glove,

to douse the hate, a victory,

to refill all the love,

fauna and flora,

are family,

a needed aura,

globally,

healers we,

could be our name,

no more pleas,

of who’s to blame.

So, on life’s loom, spin more joy,

in a world, that’s nearly sank,

be more wholesomely employed,

write laws that truly thank,

awakened now,

to lessen errs,

rejected fouls,

as we concur,

better beings,

deserve the reins,

to steer the means,

erase the pains.

  • Comment from author about the poem: Apparently, today, Monday 15th January 2024, in the UK, at least, is dubbed "Blue Monday", the saddest and most depressive day of the year, according to Sky Travel. To their "equation", they say that the third Monday of every January, is the aforementioned day. With that said, I thought I would write something, that is somewhat cheery, to not only keep my chin up, but to also hopefully bring a smile to you. The banner picture, is obviously a clear visual for love, of which, this year so desperately and rightfully needs to adopt, if things are to get any better. I hope that you enjoy and take some encouragement from this poem, I also hope, that I can find the strength to practice what I write, and as always, please do stay safe everyone.

Interesting - the whole Blue Monday thing. Love your poetic opposition. Seems I fell for the 'blue' part as an American, no less. I'll have to remember the third Monday next January, and join your opposition!

Thanks for the read and for favouriting this poem Eugene S, it's very much appreciated.

I myself, was only just told about it yesterday, about it having a certain name, but I fully understand, that January can be a "deathly" month in more ways than one, for many people.

I'm glad that you enjoyed this piece of poetic defiance, to hopefully issue in more joy into the harsh winter that can take so much away, and I hope that the next third Monday in January for you, is a good one.

I hope that all is well.

In any 'blue' times we must think of the good times we have and that will come in our lives Ben.

Thanks for the read Andy, and I will endeavour to stay strong in the darkest, "blue"est of times.

I hope that all is well.
