Middle Ground

Jabberwocky

You came down from the mountains.

I came up from the sea.

We found ourselves some middle ground

and lived unhappily.

Your heart; it soared with eagles.

My heart; it yearned the deep.

Whatever joy we found,

Was never ours to keep.
