The Irony Of Life.

Goldfinch60

When thinking about life

We may be able to see,

To see the irony within it.

It takes sadness within it

To know happiness,

Noise to appreciate silence,

And absence to value presence.

Life is full of irony

But we just do not see it.

it is the unity of such opposites that make the world go round .. well that and gravitational pull of course ..

      • Goldfinch60

Of course Neville... without gravity we would not get anywhere.

Lovely lines here and so much truth contained in this poem. The opposites at play. If you do not experience the depths of sadness you will never understand the giddy heights of happiness. Have a beautiful day.

              • Goldfinch60

We often need distance to gain perspective and momentary emotion is too close to be appreciated in its proper perspective. We can not see the balance until we gain the distance of time and sometimes we just don't live that long.

So very true soren, thank you.
