Sure Safety - Ye Olde Prayers Series (6)

Tune: St Leonards

('May the mind of Christ my Saviour')

Based on a prayer by St Columba (c.521-597AD)

***********

O God, alone with none but you

I do sense your presence true

I journey on my way with you

In all I say, do

What need I fear, when you are near

O King of night and day here

More safe am I within your hand

I so understand

Safer than if human hosts were

To gather, to my help stir

Yet you too work through them by your

Grace from your rich store

in an increasingly risk adverse world, whilst you can't beat safety, going over the top is a false economy and can be like shooting oneself simultaneously in both the head and the foot ..

I'm hopping about now - I shot myself in the foot! Did I? lol.

Many years ago I went to Iona where St Columba's tomb is, I am sure that in St Oran's Chapel on Iona I was touched by My God.
