I'm Closing The Books

Tom Dylan

I'm closing the books,

keeping the covers shut tight,

recently I've been 

tearing out the pages

handing them out 

to passers-by.

 

I'm closing the books,

rather than letting people

leaf through this thin

dog-eared, yellow-page volume

and criticise the character,

the plot and the story.

 

I'm closing the books,

from now on there will be

only the black and white author photo,

and the blurb on the 

back-cover to reveal

a brief summary

of the contents.

    the book may be closed but let's try and keep the pubs open .. otherwise another one of our old traditions is going down the pan & so many people will lose their livelihoods .. I think maybe the mafia is behind that too ..

      Agree about the pubs, mate. When we take our dog for a walk, he insists on stopping off for a pint and a few dog treats. 🙂

                  Haha thanks Teddy. Poetry and gangsters, now that would be a surreal combination. In the film somebody said the books are closed, and my imagination ran away with itself 😁
