Tune: Sandys
('Teach me, my God and King')
Based on a prayer, source unknown, early Scottish
*************
I rise today, it through
Strength of heaven's renew
Your creation, Lord, me to aid
Your wondrous works displayed
Light of the sun's bright beam
Radiance of moon's gleam
Splendour of fire, speed of lightning
Of these we speak and sing
And too the wind's swiftness
Grains of sand numberless
Depth of sea, earth's stability
Firmness of rock and tree
Of each thing may we learn
And more of God discern
His life, power in creation
Shown to every nation

- Comment from author about the poem: A hymn-poem in 6.6.8.6. I added the last verse, as we should not worship Nature in itself, as 'things', but let Nature point us to God the Creator. The hymn in the video is from early 17th Century. The last verse 'this is the famous stone......turns all to gold' sounds like a sort of alchemy, aiming to find an elixir, a 'cure-all', maybe a more prominent theme in those days.

ye olde series is still going strong I see ..
I sends ye olden thanks N. Will I ever get past 1,000AD?
A most glorious hymn of not only gratitude but recognition of all the splendors around us.
Thanks SB. I adapted it from an old prayer.
For we know that the whole creation groans and travails in pain together until now...
Thanks 2.
Good one Orchi.
Thanks Gold.
