Tune: St Botolph

('I come with joy to meet my Lord')

Based on a prayer by Origen (c.185-254AD)

************

Jesus, my feet they dirty be

Come as servant to me

And pour water into your bowl

Wash my feet, make me whole

In asking such a thing I know

It seems as if I show

Over-boldness, but you did say

To Peter there one day

Said, If I do not wash you, you

Have no place in me true

These words I dread to hear, so I

Accept, to me draw nigh

Wash my feet then, for I long for

Your companionship sure

And teach us to serve as you serve

Though none it we deserve

I've probably missed the point, but could not companionship involve a little more than feet washing....?

Thanks Dave. Yes - the feet washing is symbolic of serving one another. It could include feet washing itself, but doesn't have to. I'll pop round later to wash yours! lol.
Sir Orchi Non Sequitur says - yes, it involves washing hands as well. lol.

I can't wait....... nah, yes I can.... conserve your energy, old fella... if you did , the airline could quite possibly cancel your flight and make you wait an interminable length of time for a refund.... (I have contacts...)

Hands? Well you are moving in the right direction - wot about cleaning your teeth? Not yours mine ...and I do a very good job of it myself, thanks, so don't bother....
