Beseeching Blessings - Ye Olde Prayers series (15)

orchidee

Tune: Bunessan

('Morning has broken')

Based on a prayer by Clement of Rome (c.35-99AD)

**********

May God who sees all things, who is Ruler

Of all spirits, grace on us confer

And Lord of all flesh, He our Lord Jesus

Did choose to be the Saviour of us

God called us through Christ to be His special

People, may He grant unto souls all

That call upon His glorious holy

Name, the Spirit's fruit for His glory

Faith, peace, patience, and too longsuffering

Self-control, purity may He bring

And sobriety, to the well-pleasing

Of His name, worship in every thing

We pray through our High Priest and Protector

Jesus Christ, who does to our help stir

By whom to God be glory, majesty

Power, honour now, e'erlastingly
