Paraclete's Presence - Ye Olde Prayers series (16)

orchidee

Tune: Saffron Walden

(one tune to 'Just as I am')

Based on a prayer by St Anselm, 11th Century

***********

O holy Paraclete*, sweetest (*the Holy Spirit)

Consoler of the sad, them bless

Gracious Spirit, come to us here

With your power appear

Your mighty power come unto

Depths of our hearts and us renew

And gladden us with your brightness

Each dark retreat, no less

And enrich with the dew of your

Abundant comfort to us sure

Kindle our inward parts with your

Holy favour e'ermore

So incense of our prayers, praises

Ascend to you as each raises

Them to you, may we glorify

You God through Christ here nigh
