.....Roses, as the film says?!
Nope.....Water, says Fido!
He says - Orchi's coming out of the woodwork
Gonna let his hair down
Gonna fill up his syphon
Not with soda, but water
And pop round to ya
I admit I don't know much about that film
But it relates to alcohol use disorder
Dunno why ya complain about the water
Added to ya tipples
It only means the tipple will last longer
Ya won't have to pour so much
Out of the bottle each time
I have to add water anyway
Cos of one day KP hid it
She gave me tipples and got me tipsy
Then I said 'I do'
Would never have said it otherwise!
One Halloween it was - when else?
She wore, not a scary mask
But a beautiful mask to deceive me
So we married
And me life's been downhill since
Days of Trout and Rosie
Not Cider with Rosie
You're waxing literary here Orchi, says Fido
Oh, it's about the only book I know
Though the line 'Days of Wine And Roses'
Is also in a poem from 1896
Ooh, there's a song of it too, from 1962
By a crooner - Andy Williams
I'd better sing or croon it then! Arrgghh!
Heehee - Got earplugs in?
I've never been the same again
It all turned for the worse, you realise

a splendid & most welcome digression sir ..
tho' maybe a change of category is in order to appease the purists ..
Thanks N. Oops - changes it to 'humor'.
Ya been turning water to wine? I think I hear a hymn in that somewhere. Maybe a little to New Testament old is a better vintage. Very nice Orchi
Thanks SB. I turns wine to water, though they will shoot me for it! lol.
And in all that confusion you didn't swoon once Orchi, or did you behind the scene? 😁👍
Thanks AP. Yes, swooned behind the scenes. lol.
I knew it. 🤣
Don't get which you are humouring....KP or Fido..........
Humouring poets - or to be Sir ONS - is that humoring or humouring? Where's them U's gone to?!
You'll have to tell me - I'm not up to appreciating such subtlety so early in the morning.
Hysterical and well-crafted.
Thanks T. It's all true, of course. Is it?! lol.
Love your digression into this "oh so fun" poem. We have an annual event here in St. Louis, Mo, a series of boxing matches, for charity, between the police and the fire departments, they call it "Guns & Hoses. Might try that one out on KP. Be very careful.
Thanks B. lol.
You certainly know better than to put water into my scotch as you did when you put water in Harold's wine on that day on Hasting beach in 1066 and he looked up in astonishment!!!
Andy
Thanks Gold. Doh! It was all my fault in 1066!
