Keep Calm and Carry On Poeming. ๐Ÿ˜‚

Contrarian I surely am

Though for years I didn’t know it.

And now I find I’m someone else:

New Formalist? – so what I writ……?

I am, and almost for as long as I can remember, have been anti label .. I find that only very rarely are they necessary .. like poison on a bottle containing poison .. unfortunately, labels are far too often derogatory and dehumanizing .. but then that's me you old dog ..

I reckon I get ya point tho .. Neville

Evidently there's a big poetic war a going on back there somewhere..... traditionalists are fighting back..... each to their own, I say....

You very old then, if there ain't nothing new about yer?! As old as Goldfinch and I - millions of years old? lol.

There's some as have that kind of longevity and inflict themselves on the assembly in perpetuity.... some have the good manners to depart with creativity, or otherwise leave with a ๐Ÿ˜Š

As I say to people as part of my philosophy of life "This is me, if you do not like what you see it's not my problem it's yours!"

I hate labels, I think that it takes all the individuality out of people, lumping them into a group. None the less it seems helpful at times to generalize and group things. As for becoming more of a formalist as I grow older, I don't think so more conservative maybe. Oh there I go labeling things again. Thought provoking Dave.

Thanks Soren. Perhaps at times a label for a particular categorisation is no bad thing ....social trends, political movements...and so on; but poetry?? Content is all - form is whatever suits the message best.

And I reserve the right to focus (but not exclusively} on content....

Labels belong on leftovers in the fridge, so I know what's what. Great write.

Leftovers (labeled or not) for me were a nightmare - I don't leave them there. I'm not researching a new penicillin.
