Spread Too Thin

.

I spread myself too thin

I don't know how it happens but it does.

I have too many interests

and seem to be adding

more all the time.

I go from writing stories and poems

to films and TV series,

to Karate and Martial Arts,

and then there's the American sports,

I've been into the NFL since I was a kid,

and there's the baseball all summer too.

Can a person have too many interests?

Maybe I should drop some of my hobbies,

maybe I should leave the NFL and focus on

my writing for a while.

But then I remember its Super Bowl

weekend and my 49ers are playing.

Maybe I'll keep going but I just worry

that if I keep with all these interests,

even the poem I'm currently

working on will not be

Spread more jam on the bread then?! I don't know how this metaphor fits in though! lol.
Maybe - take more time for bread and jam, as it were - relaxing, eating, etc. Focus more on just a few things?
Also - having things as hobbies, but not as obsessions, in wanting to rush to the 'end' of them, when in fact there is no end of certain things.

Yeah, writing stories and poems, reading and films and TV are my passions, but apart from that, I have lots of interests. I do wonder if I should focus on fewer...

Oh ain't life a torture??? the agony of it all.... Orchidee, when he slides away from his preoccupation with Botox. can actually make a bit of sense... (only a little bit , you understand... let's not go wild...)

        • orchidee

Since when did I make sense?! lol Since when was [insert name of a so-called comedian] funny?

          • Tom Dylan

Haha.. 🙂 When my wife asks if I'm being serious I always say, I tried being serious once, I didn't like it! 🙂

            • orchidee

Ooh a quiz from me - see above. Name a 'so-called' comedian. lol.

ished. All things in good time Tom. Don't stress out over it. Your interests are there for a reason. But never give up on your very talented writing. 😉👍

Haha! -ished! Like it! John Cooper Clarke wrote a haiku that's one of my faves, I kinda pinched the ending. 'To convey one's mood, in seventeen syllables, is very diffic' Always makes me smile. 🙂
Thanks as always for your comments, AP.

We live life in the moment, and I would say enjoy what you do, and find inspiration in the things you love. A diverse life is a rich life, and your treasure is here in your words.

                            • Tom Dylan

Thanks Bella. Good point. My wife always says, you make your own rules. So I can be into poetry one day and something completely different the next. 🙂

In life we are privileged to have so many interests Tom, you may have to reign them in sometimes but never be without them as they all bring so much joy.

Thanks mate, will do. Writing stories and poems is my main passion but apart from that there's loads of stuff I'm into and the list is growing all the time. 🙂 Cheers, Tom.

The set up was perfect for the fin.... Distractions occur when too many things are put on the plate. Nicely written

Yeah, I do find that there are so many interests to take up my time. I sometimes wonder, should I drop a few of my interests and concentrate more fully on my writing. Thanks for your comments, Soren.
