The Titanic.

Not absent - still here!
Keep Calm and Carry On Poeming. 😂

An obsession with the Titanic -

The reasons for this are not clear:

What was the iceberg’s transgression

With human hubris there to steer?

What’s in a name you say?

This from which the berg should cower:

Titans, Greek gods from yesterday

Gave a term for strength and power;

‘Unsinkable’ was here misused

- Just an example of the way

Words have meaning until abused;

Now a lesson for today, I’d have to say…….

Titanic was indeed a great example, for the “words misused” . Thanks for the reminder and the good write.

Thanks for your prompt attention, Parisab. Really appreciated.
Again and again all manner of memorabilia turn up on Antiques Roadshow... more boredom.....

      • Parisab

Antique Roadshow is indeed captivating, always! It’s always great to come across your work.

Pride goeth before destruction, and a haughty spirit before a fall.

Got it completely, man - thanks.

So true Dave, it sank so it just lays on the bottom of the and nothing can be done about it and nothing should be done about it should just be left there in peace.

Agreed, Andy. So you've bought some 'artifacts' to the surface...... And so?

I may have done if I could swim, but I cannot swim.

It was me who suggested it was perfectly safe. I of course escaped from the Titanic! lol. So says Sir ONS.
Antiques Roadshow - do I know it? I'm in it as an exhibit!

              • Doggerel Dave

You've got me all confused now....wasn't it you I saw on Grand Designs gnawing away at the back of one of Kevin Mc someone or other's rear rubber boot as he extolled the virtues of the conversion of a homely little cottage into a multi million post modernist McMonster?

                • orchidee

You've lost me, Sir Dave NS! lol.

                  Misused indeed. Well done Dave.

                    Thanks Jerry.

Don't see you around much - too busy?

I to think they should have paid attention to the word they gave, in that it was prophetic. The Titans were defeated and sent down to Tartarus just like the ship was defeated and sent to the bottom. Loved tje write Dave.

That was educative, Soren. I have only a superficial knowledge of many things - always ready to add some depth (honestly - no irony)
How did you, given your somewhat busy life, manage to find time to delve into the Ancients?

                      • sorenbarrett

Always been interested in mythology and other diverse subjects, just curious I guess. Love reading and your poems are ones I like to read.

I guess whatever floats their boat ..

but .. ships, I see no ships .. also springs to mind ..

                        • Doggerel Dave

Floating their boat ain't no good if the terminology is no good...sends 'em in circles, where there's always the possibility of another iceberg....and as you so rightly point out ..end result..no ships..
