Saving Strength

orchidee

Tune: Franconia

('Blest are the pure in heart')

Psalm 28 v.7-9

********

The Lord is my strength, shield

My heart trusted, did yield

To Him, and I am helped, therefore

My heart rejoices sure

Great praises I do give

My song make while I live

The Lord our strength, our salvaiton

E'en to every nation

And He the saving strength

Of His Son, all the length

Of the Messiah's days He be

God's anointed one, see

Save your people, O Lord

Prosper them in your word

[And] Bless your inheritance, us feed

Sustain, we e'er you need

  • Comment from author about the poem: A hymn-poem in 6.6.8.6. The words in italics in the last verse, are one of the 'responses' in Evening Prayer services in some churches. It seems we inherit God, and He inherits us.

the concept you allude to is inherently confusing ..

Thanks N. I mean in the sense of God giving us strength, not that we save strength of ourselves. is the matter elucidated now, or still clear as mud?!

Trust, faith, belief, all elements needed in life as well as religion. Strong words Orchi. Nicely worded.
