Greatness Gloryings

Tune: Sharpthorne

('What does the Lord require?')

Parts of Psalms 45 and 46

*********

You throne, O God, does last

Ever from ages past

Never has been downcast

And kingdom's sceptre

Is of righteousness sur

This you do us assure

My heart shall think on you

Holy Lord God and true

I shall speak and shall write

That pleasing in your sight

My tongue a pen it be

Of ready writer, see

Be still, my soul, and know

The Lord is God below

And in heaven does show

He will be exalted

Among the peoples, He

Will in earth rule strong, free

God our strength and refuge

Through all troubles deluge

A very help present

His Spirit to us sent

Fear not, you His people

He shall guide us through all

  • Comment from author about the poem: A hymn-poem in 6.6.6.6.6.6. Not a difficult format, but not a very well-known hymn. A bit different in AAABBB rhyming in a couple of verses. I usually use ABABAB..... for all verses. The last two lines of each verse in the video are a Refrain really.

'My tongue a pen it be' - Are you spitting on one of those old indelible pencils still?.. Can provide you with a stationer's address in Aussi which could provide you with a ball point pen. Most these days have a push button system, but some still have a cap, You should make your choice at time of sale.
I know you Brits are going through hard times, but that's horrible. Good luck, orchi......

Sir ONS puts ink on his tongue then writes. lol.

Well Orchi reading your hymns/poems I regard as my weekly church duty. Since I read them daily I consider that this serves any religious groups from Christian Sundays, Jewish Saturdays, or Islamic daily prayers A good write Orchi.

        Ooh thanks SB.
But - oh no! - one church would not sing any of them. They were too busy with endless, dull Choruses, sung about 500 times each (felt like it) and repeated 2 or 3 weeks in a row. They couldn't get the 'staff these days' for their Music Group, you see! Midn you, they hardly knew what a 'hymn' is, but they know about 5 million Choruses!
Do you know, I sort of fell for it - never hardly hummed a proper hymn to myself or about 2 years!

Thanks N. Not 'he who speaks with forked tongue', but 'he who speaks with inky tongue'. lol.
