It Is I Who Loves Thee More Than The Sun

Teddy.15

It is I who loves thee more than the sun

With fiery eyes and golden locks undone

No man presumes such tender gasp of breath

Such beauty could send my lungs to their death

Let’s not weep for sins, but rejoice each day

All the stars the moon and indeed the clay

Let not the weeping willow die so young

Saved the sweet honey from bee’s who have stung

Dusk until dawn, to your love I have clung

Dreaming of a world that sing songs unsung

I, who dies in the forest of your heart

It’s I whom will die in the forest dark

But wait no, I shall never lay me down

Thou shall be loved, to thee I take my bow.

Teddy this holds such a classical feel. I hear Browning in this somehow. Romantic to the core. I love this one. So many good lines from the first stanza on.
"Dusk until dawn, to your love I have clung
Dreaming of a world that sing songs unsung
I, who dies in the forest of your heart
Itโ€™s I whom will die in the forest dark"
There is deep meaning in these lines of obsession and facing the cold of being ignored or rejected.

If I could explain it's actually a sonnet to my sonnet and myself who I have placed inside it, it took me 3 years to write and it was so very challenging so yes your view is most perfect on this. Thank you sorrenbarret so very very kind and encouraging, I don't think I'd ever write another one but this one I do love and it's one of my personal triumphs. ๐ŸŒน

As Soren so rightly points out, You are up there with, I'll say, the bard of Stratford-upon-Avon, Teddy.
And this coming from someone with a general antipathy for love poetry.....

      • Teddy.15

Totally honoured dear Dave thank you from the bottom of my heart. ๐ŸŒน

Perfectly executed Teddy .. I must again confess you are far braver than I .. and for some sad reason, you made me think about our dear old Dusk Arising .. ๐ŸŒน

Probably because he enjoyed this and he knew and appreciated the work that it took to finish, he always encouraged me when I posted it, I also feel the same missing his loveliness always. ๐ŸŒน

Your poem beautifully expresses a deep and passionate love, comparing it to the intensity of the sun and the beauty of nature. The imagery of fiery eyes and golden locks evokes a sense of awe and admiration. The poem also touches on the theme of forgiveness and the importance of cherishing each day. The final lines convey a sense of eternal love and devotion, promising to continue loving even in the face of darkness.

Dear Teddy, now this is a sonnet to top all sonnets. I know how difficult they are to compose because I have dabbled myself. You have given your readers a love poem here of incredible depth and beauty. I canโ€™t praise it enough. ๐ŸŒน

Dear Cassie58, I'm a women who has dedicated my life to working with very young children, I tell them ever day, never give up you can do it, the day I decided to write my sonnet was the day I practiced my own medicine, it took 3 years to get it to this, Your review is why I did it. Because for even just one other person to notice it's depth makes me feel like my determination and love and indeed passion for this sonnet has just come alive. Thank you dear friend of poetry. ๐ŸŒน

To praise ones essence in the hard labor of a sonnet, is so brave and lovely. Job well done! I hope to take a walk somewhere in the old world and sit and attempt one soon.

I confess I know little of this form of poetry, but the words Dear Teddy, are exquisite. If this be the food of love, then write on , and on, and on. Once again you introduce to something I want to learn more about. Thank you!!
