The Palace on the River

AuburnScribbler

Both bricks and deeds,

make place, so rotten,

country bleeds,

becomes forgotten,

their deals invade,

without permission,

we bathe in shade,

rape’s intermission,

cruel pantomime,

pains the screens,

no vote is kind,

they mute the screams,

that could rebuild,

but they say, “no!”

their laws don’t yield,

thus, nothing grows,

for badge lapels,

love procedure,

create our hells,

with smug demeanour,

hence, living dead,

install and rule,

all air heads,

who play the fool.

  • Comment from author about the poem: With recent disparaging party political dealings in both the Labour and Conservative parties, either it be a "biased speaker", a "racist MP", "antisemites", or a "blue comedian of Prime Minister", I felt compelled to write this one about the Houses of Parliament, or "The Palace on the River". The Palace of Westminster, could be a bedrock of wondrous chaste simplicity and a well of hope, but for the last century at least, it has been used as an infernal chamber that has broadcasted, ever so proudly, every sin and crime under the sun. Accompanying the poem, is the banner picture, that looks like a courtyard of such a place of politics, with a man looking like an elected representative, but what does his face; that is turned aways from us, doing? Is he crying at the pain that his politics creates for so many? Or is he wearing a big Cheshire cat like smile, that says he enjoys being in the upper one percent? I hope that you enjoy the poem, I know, I know, I said that I was going to post more uplifting poetry, but I had to write this, and as always, please do stay everyone.

Sadly dear friend, this is a universal theme, and you speak the truth of it most eloquently. Division seems to be the rule of the day, and those in power feed hungrily upon it to satisfy their own appetites. It will take a supreme effort on the part of all the people, and I don't know if there is the will to do it. I want to say that there is still hope, but I don't know any more what to hope for. You keep it real, thank you!

Thanks for the read Bella, and your above commentary, although woeful and frustrating, I do totally agree with.

Such infuriating parameters make damaging popularist repetition, generation to generation, and it makes up such a norm, that claims lives, and doesn't support every voice. Via such a morbid process, it seems that life is to be endured and not lived. This sadly means, that we (or the upper one percent mistakenly voted in), have become our own devils!

Let us shine a beacon of hope, so bright that it burns through the dark poisonous forest, that is created by such greedy hatred.

You're very welcome, you keep it real too, and I hope that all is well.

Such true words Ben, we just cannot trust politicians.

Thanks for the read Andy, and I agree with you.

If we can't trust them, what is the point in them? What is the point of the vote?

I hope that all is well.
