From Florence With Love

Teddy.15

You’re the king of my universe
your poetry ignites my gentle heart
where the river was born to a peaceful flow
we stand together as one sweet soul

In this the tempestuous ocean of life
our paths have never crossed
there is no greater sorrow
than knowing our hands will never touch

but you are deep within me
from my love of poetry
you’ve led me to your great wisdom

“Love which absolves no one is beloved from loving”

you’ve captured me with your charm
my admiration for you
will bring me to my tragic death

and my dead torso will fall
onto the very cobbles
in which you were born
igniting
this, the great fire I have from within.

A beautiful tribute to not only a city but in metaphor a person.. This write filled with near rhymes, irregular stanzas that fit so well still carrying the flow and meter are a triumph in and of themselves, but more than this is the poetic form of the piece itself that has a feel so enchanting and well written that it takes me to the location itself. Charming and very professionally written.

I am always overwhelmed with joy to see you dear sorrenbarret your exquisite eye can see that although I am capable of rhyming, I also like to be different by mixing it up with free verse, thank you from the bottom of my heart Sir. Florence is where I live and it's never difficult to find such inspiration from the streets that Dante himself once walked. 🌹

The sweetness of your words soothes the soul, and creates beautiful images in the mind. The second stanza begs to be read again, and again. A true work of art, dedicated to the capital of arts.
