Listening Lord

orchidee

Tune: Corpus Christi

('Jesus, in thy dear Sacrament')

Genesis 16 v.6-14

********

Lord, hear us now, we ask today

And even every day

Through night watch keep, guard us your sheep

Here night and day, we pray

Help us to listen unto you

With us your grace endue

Speak message clear, cause us to hear

Obey with godly fear

For you did unto Hagar hark

Her situation stark

Sarah cast her out, there no doubt

Her state abandoned, dark

Yet you Lord, found her, desert land

Where she escaped the hand

Of stern mistress, who caused distress

To her, no more did bless

You promises to Hagar gave

You did visit and save

She would bear son, Ishmael the one

"God shall hear", it be done

And well nearby she did then name

Beer-lahai-roi, the same

"Well of Him, He the God, He be

Who does live and see me"

  • Comment from author about the poem: A hymn-Poem in 8.6.8.6. Not a very well-known hymn in the video, more Anglo-Catholic really. The rhyming is varied in this, as I had to adjust the meter in it.

Now you are reviewing my bible knowledge. This one seems a bit more complex and intricate in its workings. Nicely done Orchi.
