Stir Your Broth in a Helmet (For Dave Myers, A Hairy Biker, Rest in Peace)

AuburnScribbler

If there’s no bowl, upon your pelmet,

then stir your broth, in a helmet,

be like him, who rode with smile,

whose speech retold, many a mile,

to dance and sing, were also stock,

a friend we made, on the box,

his heart was warm, in al fresco,

in terms of candour, he was maestro,

he sugar-coated, this hard life,

thus, love he served, a dish so ripe,

a legacy sweet, savours the land,

as, for all to see, his King still stands.

  • Comment from author about the poem: I know that I am a bit late, but I felt compelled to write this homage, for such a gentleman. Dave Myers, along with Si King, was one half of "The Hairy Bikers", who trapsed around the UK, and then the world, on a great culinary journey. Sadly, Dave, died recently on the 28th of February, due to an ongoing battle with cancer. He was such a lovely guy, and was well respected amongst the UK cooking community. He also participated in the 2013 series of "Strictly Come Dancing". Of course, I had to include a picture of him smiling as he always did, as well as the banner picture, of which, I envisage, is a younger version of him, being free, riding his trusty metal steed. I hope that you enjoy this poetic homage, rest in peace Dave, and as always, please do stay safe everyone.

A very kind and warm gentleman, funny and his passion of food and life was like most who leave earth early extraordinary. I saw some clips of him dancing and he made me smile. A kind dedication. 🌹

Thanks for the read Teddy.15, and for the kind words, and I'm also glad that you were fond of him too.

Like you've said, all he did, he did with a smile, I also saw a couple of clips of him doing Strictly, he looked like he was really enjoying himself.

Thanks again, and I hope that all is well.

Thanks for the read Andy, and for the kind words. I totally agree, he was a great watch, especially with Si. Whenever a repeat of them is on, I will try to watch it.

Thanks again, and I hope that all is well.
