Cleansing Cure

Tune: Morning Hymn

('Awake my soul and with the sun')

Matthew 8 v.1-4

********

Behold, a leper came unto

Jesus, who did Him see, did view

The leper worshipped Him and said

In simple words his prayer he pled

He said, Lord, if you will, you can

Make me clean, though I be mere man

Jesus, compassionate, put forth

his hand, valued the man's true worth

He touched the man and said, I will

Be you clean, and free from your ill

And immediately he was cleansed

Was heed, within himself he sensed

Jesus said, Tell no man, but go

Unto the priest, and your self show

And offer gift as in the law

Testimony of healing sure*

Though he did the more blaze abroad

Went out to others, spread the word

But doing so in that case he

Made life harder for Jesus, see

-----

* a sort of ritual, a confirming of

one's healing or cleansing.

  • Comment from author about the poem: A hymn-poem in 8.8.8.8. At some points in time it's not right to evangelise/witness. Though the man would have wanted to tell everyone of his healing, in this case it made things more difficult for Jesus. Probably even more people came to Him in their human needs, making life even busier for Him.

Thanks Gold. Did we meet any of these folk in person, who experience healings/ miracles?!

A true act of compassion and a miracle of healing. We could do with more of that.

Thanks C. Yes - would we touch a leper, or equivalent of a leper?
