As I sip Guinness, I see snakes,
that Pat promised to rid,
everywhere their darkness quakes,
slithering amid,
dealing with the innocent,
turning them so sour,
where words are filled with sibilance
to darken every hour,
but douse such naivety,
we can’t ignore their tests,
rewards aren’t given easily,
so, tolerate their pests,
for a smile painted, with our deeds,
makes for such a toast,
for in strength, the spirit feeds,
the love we need the most.

- Comment from author about the poem: Happy St. Patrick's Day everyone! And, with that said, I thought I would write a seasonal one today, about dealing with hardships in our lives, or our proverbial snakes, that build up our characters, into being surprisingly stronger people, than we thought we would ever be. Hence, with such an intention in writing this poem, to me, when it comes to St. Patrick, he tried his best to banish all the snakes out of Ireland, but it is important, that some remain, not just there, but all over the world, in order for fights for just causes to continue. (N.B. This does not include a certain, and in my opinion, very unnecessary prolonged religious fight in Eire!) Of course, the banner picture is reminiscent of the ancient, and all so familiar greenery, of the Emerald Isle, thus, it acts as very apt visual background. I hope that you enjoy the poem, again, Happy St. Patrick's Day, and as always, please do stay safe everyone.

You very old, as Goldfinch and I are on here? Did you meet Pat in person?! lol.
Thanks for the read orchidee, and I beg your pardon!? Hahaha!
But in terms of meeting Pat in person, I probably did, so I did. Though I can't be sure, to be sure! Oops!
I hope that all is well.
Enjoy your Guiness Ben, as I do mine.
Andy
Thanks for the read Andy, and cheers to you my friend!
A few pints of the black stuff were definitely quaffed quite quickly, after posting this, and they were very much enjoyed, as I only ever really save Guinness for St. Pat's, or whenever there's no decent IPA on in the pub.
Thanks again, and I hope that all is well.
