If they do these things when a tree be green
What, when it is leafless, what shall be seen?
As they led Jesus to be crucified
Simon made to carry cross, not denied - Chorus
There followed Jesus a great company
They bewailed, lamented His sufferings, see - Chorus
But Jesus said, People, weep not for me
But for yourselves and your children, so be - Chorus
For the days are coming when they shall say
Blessed be the childless in these dreadful days - Chorus
Then shall they say to the mountains, Do fall
On us, and you hills, now cover us all - Chorus
So people shall wish to escape evil
In their troubles they unto God shall call - Chrous
