Beast of Alzheimer's

TrueNorth

Beast of Alzheimer's

Of all the things I 've lost between us
I miss your mind the most
Send me in it's direction
no man has found it' s mould
May I join you on your journeys
as sometimes great once it seems
Maybe then I 'd understand
Some days I swear I cannot accept
this desease that controls your head
I swear I never know what to do
are there even space for two

Once loved but now not identified
your daughter, your best friend
I pray my presence not denied
but each day this gaurenteed
While casually moving onwards
momentarily realizing the truth
Your failing mind unwillingly
forgot what it ' should do
Tears uncontainably shed
no prouder woman I've ever met
as again alzheimer's won the race

Powerful work. The pain is palpable.
