Tomb Tale

Tune: Horsley

('There is a green hill')

Matthew 27 v.57-66 and 28 v.11-15 parts

*********

Joseph of Arimathea

With Pilate did confer

That Friday evening when Jesus

Had died, gave life for us

He asked that he might Him bury

Pilate said, 'To it see'

He in clean cloth wrapped the body

Laid in tomb securely

He rolled a great stone to the door

Of the rock-tomb, it sure

Was made by soldiers, they sealed stone

And set a guard, was known

Later when Jesus risen, they

Were given bribes to say

His disciples came here by night

Stole Him then from our sight

For we did sleep, did not them see

Some Jews today, so be

Believe that this was true the way

Things happened on that day

It's a bit tricky with the days, as really the Jewish day runs from sunset to sunset.

Thanks K. I don't copy scriptures verbatim, but base many of my poems on them.

      A bit early this year?
Passover is the next full moon,
      If my information is correct??

      • orchidee

Thanks 2. I think Easter depends on the date of a certain full moon, called the Paschal Moon. Passover somewhere near that, but I'm not sure. I read Easter can be earliest March 22 to latest April 25.

This year thec22nd? Of April- full moon.
