Broken sun rays

sorenbarrett

You've never left, although I haven't seen you in so long.

I sense you near, although you're so far away.

A star at night, in dark skies, shines so bright

light giving sight from a past day.

Climbing a starry ladder of rungs the air you breath fills my lungs,

memory's echoes, sweep away shadow's dismays.

Your flame frozen, a sky of diamonds chosen

remembrance's dust of rust lays on broken sun rays.
