And so here I am in a dream
or so it would seem?
I've written many a yarn of a love once mine
from far away beyond the vines
but on deep reflection
I just cannot help but wonder...
If my greatest love affair
is actually with...
my darling London?

It is strange how locations of birth, childhood, and places where one first found love are marked indelibly in the heart and mind. These associations retrieve past emotions that seem dream like.

You can’t take London out of the girl wherever she may live. If you are born there, it will always be home. I have so many wonderful memories of my years there with parents and grandparents. All gone now. I love your poem Teddy. It touches the heart of me:)
My dear Cassie, you and I have so much in common on this subject, we both come from here yet live a different very different life over seas, today for some reason I so miss my darling London, you always bring a huge smile to my page and you make me remember how lucky I am to have the best of both worlds thank you. ❤️ 🌹

“Maybe it’s because I’m a Londoner…” I do mention it when it comes up….. which happens if I open my North&South – which I do fairly often… Intonations not as strong as they used to be owing to my fraternization with the middle classes and residence in Oz, but definitely (it seems) still there.
I have to admit, Teddy that I miss London (1967 – ’87) when in Australia but was nostalgic for Oz sometimes when there……..
Just know that I do understand, but also know you would miss Florence if you went back.
Dear Dave, thank you, I wouldn't go back to London, my family and I are in the best place we can be Italy has it's moments but it's been 22 years and I wouldn't change it for anything, you are right I'd miss Florence. London is so way down deep in my heart the last time I visited in 2022 in December it feels like years and years ago. Thank you so much Dave. You being from London in the 60's you also saw London at its best with the mods and punks and all that trendy stuff I didn't get to see. 🌹
I used to live in Rochester, Kent and could get up to London in less than an hour, had some wonderful times there Teddy.
