From Shakespeare with Love

Teddy.15

She was his inner being
he was in a secret confession
with his own heart
every time, he wrote a poem
she was the painting within each page
woven with silk into ink

the fire in his heart, burned fiercely
for her love
love, that in the end was never to be

she was his soul
his thoughts
his smell
and the air he breathed
she was his spark
and indeed he was hers

an unbreakable bond
between Romeo and Juliet
that only time could understand

two souls
gifted to the world by William

and within every word
of each new poet's lines written

they are in fact, still together
and very much alive...

at least, that's what I would like to believe

because the work of a true poet
is never really finished.

You truly are the romantic Teddy. A wonderful write. Romeo and Juliet, the fated lovers, gifted to us by Shakespeare. And hundreds of years later, they are still very much โ€œwith usโ€. Great poetry. A Sunday special. ๐ŸŒน

Many a man scoffs at the thought of being a romantic. But love for one woman can be his biggest weakness, while also his greatest strength.
And the door can swing both ways on that, yes? Long live Romeo & Juliet! ๐ŸŒน

You always manage to get 'em in with your romance, Teddy.

I'm contemplating a write about the Shakespeare dished up to me at school, which wasn't R & J or Much ado, but Hamlet, Macbeth and "my kingdom for a horse". All blood and guts. Preparation, not for love, but war!

I never got that priveliage of studying much of anything at school I went to one that was filled with bullies, they are just scribbles mostly depending on my mood dear Dave, but your kind words do warm my heart, if only I could read something romantic from you, it would truly mean a lot. Thank you. ๐ŸŒน

OK, Teddy - you did ask. My take on love and romance:

I hope, if you don't necessarily like it, you can at least appreciate where I'm coming from.

Take care and look after yourself.

Funny how a person can write something so iconic that after centuries it remains an archetype across the world. The power of the written word and the human mind is amazing. Your poem catches this spirit. I loved your line " she was the painting within each page
woven with silk into ink" Thanks so much for renewing the bard's memory.

                      • Teddy.15
