Comforting Concerns

Tune: St Peter

('How sweet the name of Jesus sounds')

Psalm 41 v.1-3

********

Blessed they that help the powerless

And the poor in distress

The Lord will save them in their own

Troubles, they to Him known

Show some compassion, some good deed

To the afflicted heed

And the Lord will keep and preserve

They who the needy serve

The Lord will strengthen them when they

Encounter troubled days

If in their sick bed, He will heal

Them, work for their good weal* (*well-being)

Come to us, Lord, revive, restore

In you is healing, cure

Raise us if in sickness, then lo

We restortaion know

  • Comment from author about the poem: A hymn-poem in 8.6.8.6. Some personal thoughts, as we have some difficulties and struggles here, mainly health-wise, rather like 'the sick helping the sick. Hold on to this promise, though in caring we can become frustrated, annoyed, etc, at times, if a continual burden. Some sickness is acute (short and not lasting), and some is acute (long and drawn-out).

sadly there are not enough people around who are prepared to offer help to those less fortunate without taking a selfie doing it or videoing it in the hope they might be offered a part in some pathetic so called reality show ..
