Sorry if there is a delay in replying or if I'm away for short periods. Sometimes life gets in the way. As John Lennon says, life is what happens while you're busy making other plans.

I have a pebble on my desk

from a holiday years ago,

if anyone asks, I tell them

it's a paper-weight,

a small souvenir,

but when the job

and life in general

gets on top of me

and I feel the dull ache

of stress and tension

gripping my shoulders

and crushing the

back of my neck

I pick up that pebble

closing my fingers

gently but tightly

around it

and breath slowly

until I can

hear the crash of the waves

and feel the sun on my face.

There's more than enough resonance there for me in that rich but simple statement/poem, Tom. I too have an otherwise inconsequential object - small wooden, worn by waves plus woodworm and the remnants of a brass verdigrised screw which forever reminds me of that day on that beach - not to mention the mystery.....

Thanks, Dave. That's exactly it. I have this pebble, this little connection to a Spanish holiday years ago. Cheers, Tom.

Yes, that's it. It's the little things, the tiny details, that count.

Keepsakes are a great little reminder of special places and event from our past. I have little pieces of wood from broken shingles of the Lawson Tower which I recently posted of. Great write Tom. πŸ˜‰πŸ‘

Totally understand this. I have a conch shell from years back given to me by my grandmother. I listen to the ebb and flow of the tides and feel calmed. Lovely poem I can relate to Tom. Happy Wednesday.
