Here, Sit I

Cassie58

i do not know you

yet I’m drawn to sit beside

this moss stained stone

here in shade where pine cones fall

drenched by April’s constant rain

here I sit where songbirds’ notes

sing mournful songs from tiny throats

where bluebells gather at your feet

and ivy clings to dampened ground

here beneath forget me nots

your buried bones reach out to me

i swear I heard a muffled cry

here i sit alone with thoughts

of why a child should breathe her last

of why a child from decades past

should early die

should touch my heart

an open grave

should kiss my cheek

as I walk by

The very vision of walking past a child's grave, stunningly written with emotion and all. It happened to my own mother she never did recover eventually she died young too. A very graceful piece dearest Cassie, and yes there is something much darker when they are children. Kudos. 🌹

An old Victorian cemetery which is no longer used. Mother Nature has completely taken over. That visit inspired this write Teddy. Thank you so much for your comment. Hope your day has been kind to you. 🌹

Victorian cemetery, sadly many children buried there. Heartbreaking to think they had no antibiotics in those days. Something we take for granted. Thank you Neville.

This poem speaks powerfully to any parent where a child should not go before them. A mournful sadness I would wish on no one. The poem is somber, dark and at the same time carries a tone of love and missing someone that never ripened. Beautiful in the same regard it calls out to the listener.

Inspired by a visit to a Victorian cemetery, before antibiotics was discovered. So many children died young. Thank you so much Sorrenbarrett, for your visit.

Wonderful words Cassie, it is amazing that what thoughts come to us when sitting in Nature's realm.
