Tune: Saffron Walden

('Just as I am')

Psalm 10 v.12-18

*********

Arise, O Lord, lift up your hand

Forget not humble of each land

Wherefore do the wicked condemn

You God, they evil men

They think you do not see their deeds

But you, Lord, all their works do heed

Mischief and spite you do requite

Banishing sin's dark night

The poor commit themselves to you

Helper of orphans, you renew

Break now the doing of wicked

On them your judgement shed

The Lord is King for e'er and e'er

Heathen from His land perished, ne'er

To return, to despoil, or mar

God's victory shown far

Desire of humble you have heard

Unto them aid you have now stirred

Their heart you will establish sure

To you, holy and pure

You will cause you ear to them hear

Judge them righteously, and draw near

To help the orphaned and oppressed

So they in you be blessed

True write. I detect some righteous indignation.
