Tune: Sandys

('Teach me, my God and King')

Psalm 131

******

Lord, search my heart today

And lead me in your way

May my heart not be haughty, proud

But with your grace endowed

May my eyes not lofty

Nor I conceited be

Nor taken up with things too high

But with meek things here nigh

For some things sure they be

Too difficult for me

Or too profound to comprehend

For my ears to them lend

For what I am 'fore* you (*before)

That I am, it is true

No false pretence nor vanity

Can make a greater me

I have behaved quited

Myself, am contented

As a child of its mother weaned

Knowledge of you have gleaned

Hope in the Lord, people

Call on Him, one and all

Comforted, knowing He us knows

His wisdom He gives, shows

So may we grow in grace

Until we see Christ's face

Then all shall be known perfectly

With Him we ever be
