The True Nature of Loss
As she entered the room,
I suddenly
remembered the scent
and the taste
and the feel of orchards
and harbours
and sixteen other sacred
places that
I visited during my youth ..
And although
I never quite forgot them
I no longer
think of them each day or
mourn their
existential passing, such is
the nature of loss ..

You never lose that sense of smell, taste or touch, that seems to remain, even though the memories themselves may fade with the passing of years. This poem is very much of the present Neville. Have a lovely weekend.

Much truth in a few lines, Neville.
