That Time of Year Again
Around this time of year
every year that is ..
We see them in pairs,
in trees and in hedgerows ..
We see them
in meadows, in forests
on marshland and fields ..
We see them
dancing and making love,
on the wing ..
Then toying with thermals
like arial voyeurs,
and watching from some
proverbial wire ..
Yes, always in pairs though ..

Good write N.
I'm The Birdman. Do we find them in pairs?! lol.
it is obvious to me that you are some kind of rodent sir .. and also quite deluded ..
A flying fox? Links the rodent theme - sort of - with flying.
There is something mesmerizing about looking at birds in flight. The freedom of the skies. I love the movement you have put into this piece and I do believe these may be swifts in courtship Neville. You have created some fab imagery here.
I'm write there with you Cassie, and thank you for noticing my friend .. Neville
My partner feeds the birds (I no longer wish to debate this – she does it!) As a result, my visits to her place are marked by a cacophony of bird calls: cockatoos, lorikeets, magpies and, yes, pigeons…. My point here is thanks for the reminder that they court and breed, that might account for their numbers….and the free feed of course….
I hear you loud n clear sir Dog .. and would just like to extend my thanks for taking the time and trouble to stop by .. Neville
What a beautiful image you paint of these beauriful creatures. The flight of a bird is breathtaking in every sense. I am greeted by a chorus of birdsong each morning as I walk, and never fail to see a cardinal perched atop a telephone pole, singing its heart out, just have to stop, listen and admire. The love of nature shines your words my friend.
Thank you so much Bella, am unashamedly more than honoured by your ever so kind words regarding my latest little posting .. Neville
We've got a couple of doves nesting about ten feet from our home on a beam the supports the overhanging deck. They certainly "coo" a lot. It must be spring.
Funny how Nature pairs them in the spring and then they part. I guess some species stay together through many seasons. A great observation upon Nature. Loved it. - Phil A.
Many thanks for both the visit and share Phil .. I can just picture them sitting on that beam preening .. Neville
So true and so wonderful to believe that Nature will always be there for as as it increases.
Andy
Bless you my most optimistic of all feathered friends .. Neville
