Jesus' Reward

Tune: Binchester

('Happy are they, they that love God')

Matthew 16 v.24-26

********

Jesus did say, If anyone

Will follow me, bar none

Let them deny themselves, and take

Up their cross for my sake

For whosoe'er will their live save

Shall lose it, this be grave

And whosoe'er will their life lose

Shall be for them good news

For if they lose life for my sake

They shall find it, and make

True progress in life, for it be

State as I now show, see

[i.e. as in the next verse]

For what is any profited

If [they] gain whole world, misled

And lose their own soul? What can they

Give for soul's exchange? say
