Tune: Wolvercote
(one tune to 'O Jesus, I have promised')
*********
Just as the year is ending
As winter snows the leaves
The autumn glow pretending
The winter chill deceives
As squirrels start defending
Their caches underground
December's shivers pending
And swallows southward bound
The cool of day is blending
It frosts the forest floor
Into the sunset tending
It sooner than before
The boughs of treetops bending
As gale race through their form
They spiralling and wending
Propelled by winter's storm
And so the nightfall sending
As shadows shade the sky
The cool of night and rending
The fair of day awry
With winter's shroud descending
To cause the season's drear
Just as the year is ending
The closing of the year

- Comment from author about the poem: And now a wintry poem as we approach summer! I dunno what day it is - what month, what year, what season, what century is it?! No change there then from me. lol. It's a hymn-poem in 8.6.8.6. 8.6.8.6.

Of course Ch..... is in December. The month is mentioned in verse 1. But I can't say Ch.... until then, or Goldfinch will shoot me. lol.
Agghh, wishing the year away!
I thought you were down here for a moment.
There's no adieu from me! lol.
A bit uncharacteristic for you orchi... I hope Alan, from whom we haven't heard for a while, is not disappointed. Wasn't plagiarised was it?
I think not from a model of uprightness and integrity such as yourself (unless you are talking KP of course).
Nope, I asked Alan first - not plagued it - that rather long word!
A guy did plaguey and even put a pic of himself with 'his' poem. The poet were furious understandably.
I quite liked this
Thanks N - not all my own work.

Thanks T. Not all my own work. I adapted it with permission from another poet.
Wonderful words Orchi, glad you didn't use the C word.

Thanks Gold. Ahh Ch.. is in December, yes?! Wishing the year away? Only just under 6 months to go. Sometimes it 'always' seems to be Ch.......! A certain sort of feeling.
