Tune: Cross of Jesus
('Come, thou long expected Jesus')
1 Thessalonians 5 v.1-11
**********
Know perfectly day of the Lord
Comes as thief in night, His word
Does say, so be ready, waiting
Not deceived in anything
For when they shall say, Peace, safety
Sudden destruction shall be
As a woman in childbirth pains
No escape. such are the deigns
But believers not in darkness
That this day should them distress
Not caught out, nor as unready
On their guard, vigilant be
They be all children of the light
Having spiritual sight
Children of the day, not of night
Their path be shining, clear, bright
So not sleeping as in the night
But living sober, aright
Self-controlled, faith and love's breastplate
Putting them on, and not late
And wear helmet of salvation
God has appointed no one
To wrath, but to surely obtain
Hope of salvation, their gain
It be through our Lord Jesus Christ
He died and rose, does suffice
As our Saviour, we with Him live
Comfort to us He does give

This is a very spiritual hymn poem Steven
Thanks N.
Lovely.
Thanks T.
This is a wonderful write Orchi loved it but I think somewhere some man used the wrong word because I never thought of God as a thief. Oh I know it is just an analogy for not knowing when he is coming but still it has kind of an irreverent connotation.
Thanks SB.
Keep doing the shopping, mate - you may have a bit of a wait yet, and I don't want tio see you go hungry.
But if he "Comes as thief in night" I'm going to have my ray gun at the ready.....
Thanks D.
