Tune: Morning Hymn
('Awake my soul, and with the sun')
Acts 11 v.22-24
For St Barnabas Day - June 11.
*********
Barnabas, a good man and full
Of the Holy Spirit, heard call
Of God, and too he full of faith
Words of encouragement he saith
To church at Antioch, he saw
The grace of God, they were not poor
He was glad, encouraged them all
To progress on, so they not fall
So that they have purpose of heart
And from their Lord not to depart
But cleave to Him, continue on
And more souls to salvation won
Lord, light our heart and minds we pray
To console, encourage each day
To be known as good, godly live
And freely of your gospel give
That as Barnabas' life inspired
Others, unto holiness fired
Sharing of love, grace, all good things
Sweet fruit for God's glory each brings

Did you meet Barnabas in person, as Goldfinch and I probably did?! lol.
Always confused his name with Barabbas which annoyed him greatly. He said he had no record with the authorities. Good write Orchi
Thanks SB.
You have reminded me of the first church I attended as a seven year old, St Barnabas in Hemel Hempstead. I enjoyed Sunday school and collecting a holy stamp each week to put in a little book with a vanilla cover and a crucifix on it. Thanks for the memory. I enjoyed your hymn Orchi.
Thanks Cassie. Not seen any holy stamps myself, though the price of normal stamps is getting 'beyond the price of rubies' as the Bible says somewhere of wisdom! lol.
Are we 'dinosaurs' if we actually send letters these days? Well, we send birthday cards, etc.
Good one Orchi.
Thanks Gold. You remember when you and I met B. in person?!
