A Man Like Me

Tom Dylan

Notice of absence from Tom Dylan
CURRENTLY UNABLE TO POST AS GETTING ERROR.
Sorry if there is a delay in replying or if I'm away for short periods. Sometimes life gets in the way. As John Lennon says, life is what happens while you're busy making other plans.

I like whiskey with ice

and hot Earl Grey tea

donner kebabs with chilli sauce

and the poetry of Dylan Thomas.

I like the Beatles and John Lennon

and the 90’s Manchester bands,

and Jazz music of all kinds, including

Bebop, swing and Trad.

I like mint choc-chip ice cream

and rugby football,

both league and union,

and spicy Indian food.

I like real ale and IPA beer,

and the films of Martin Scorsese,

and Jelly Babies and cherry cola,

thriller novels and Charlie Chaplin.

I like Bob Dylan and Leonard Cohen

and playing the ukulele

and walking my black Labrador

apart from when it’s raining.

I like reality TV and documentaries

about world history and the Mob,

dry-roasted peanuts and Spam,

and reading a poem a day.

Now I know what you’re thinking,

in actual fact those two words are

also the name of my favourite

Miles Davis track, So What?

So what it means from your 'confession' is that you have a wide diversity of interests...but haven't you forgotten the name of your favourite social commentator/comedian?

    A rich write, Tom.

Haha! No, Dave, I deliberately steered away from JCC, I'm bordering on plagiarism as it is! 🙂

Plagiarism - who is he? A new poet? Don't see much of him here - give us a warning next time.... Anyway, we all in a sense plagiarise - one of my latest pieces was ripped from a casual remark on breakfast radio.

Very good point, Dave. As Stephen King says, without Dracula there'd be no Salem's Lot. I'll have to add a verse just for Dr Cooper Clarke himself! 🙂

You know Bob Dylan? Related to him?! lol.

          • Tom Dylan

Haha, oh yeah, our Bobby! 🙂

Yes, Andy, So What, and the whole album is just astonishing. Completely agree. 🙂 Thanks for your comments, mate. Cheers, Tom.

You have lots of interests and I share some of them. Love trad jazz, the Beatles, Dylan Thomas, Bob Dylan and Cohen. I also like a cup of Earl Grey on occasions. Must be in a china cup though, not a mug:) Enjoyed the read.

                  • Tom Dylan

Excellent! That's good to know, Cassie. I only discovered Earl Grey over Christmas, and I loved it. Will have to try it in a china cup and saucer as you say, rather than my Beatles mug! 🙂 Cheers, Tom.
