Out of wreckage and destruction
broken streets of bomb blitzed London,
razed when warfare wreaked its havoc
causing life loss and despair.
From the darkest, bleakest hours
sprang the sight of tiny flowers
as they struggled through the rubble,
stretched their necks to breathe in air.
Where no other plant life flourished,
soon these pretty rosette faces
colonised the empty spaces,
spread themselves without a care.
Free and easy in surroundings,
lovely pink their pearly petals
covered empty barren places
stronger grew and settled there.
Out of wreckage and destruction
when each day it’s hard to function,
search for nature’s wiser counsel,
grief a state we all must bear.
Let with time there come solutions
every season brings a reason,
courage sent to help us cope
with welcome sprigs of new found hope.

It's been an amazing weekend for me with one of my bestest friend here from London, reading your poem this evening has brought me so much warmth out of times of war and such tragedy what we can achieve if we just take care of eachother and ourselves. Remembering our pride. Beautiful dear Cassie, and your rhyme scheme is brilliant. 🌹 Thank you for this.
Thank you so much Teddy. Really pleased this poem meant something to you. I think of the last war and the resilience of Londoner’s in the blitz. Amazing spirit they had. Have a lovely day. 🌹
‘Tis an ill wind…… For a ten year old those spaces were adventure playgrounds.
Your write took me right back, Cassie. Thanks for that.
PS: Wouldn’t mind a pint of London Pride right now.
Ah, now the men in my family are inclined to agree with you Dave. A Chiswick brewery I believe. The women know more about flowers. Thank you for stopping by. All the best.
It's seems to me a sign that after humans are finished destroying, new life can blossom.
Mother Nature is resilient. She will always bounce back. Thank you for stopping by.
It's my pleasure.
A fine write Cassie.
But - hope died for me the day I married KP! heehee.
You really give Mrs Botox a bad time Orchi:) Be nice. Pleased you enjoyed my poem and thanks for stopping by.
Thanks Cassie. lol. I'm horrible to her - to bring her down a peg or two. All she thinks of is herself - 'me, me, me'. But she gets her own back. I was reminded in a comment on a poem, that she serves me up sewage for dinner! lol.
Bad boy. You are gonna be in the dog house if she’s sees that remark :))
That new hope is always with us Cassie no matter what happens in our lives. Good words.
Andy
